A brand new clip has been released from Spider-Man: No Way Home. While many fans were sure to seee the new film as soon as possible when it was released with the hopes of avoiding spoilers, Sony is looking to get more fans to catch it on the big screen before the end of the year. The studio has released a clip of the first minute of the sequel, picking up directly after the events of Spider-Man: Far from Home with the revealing of the true identity of Spider-Man (Tom Holland). As seen in the clip, It’s J. Jonah Jameson (J. K. Simmons) who publicly announces that Peter Parker is the man behind the mask. Fans and the press immediately swarm Zendaya’s MJ looking for comment, prompting Spidey to swing into action to get the both of them quickly away from the scene. These major life changes are what lead to the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Desperate to get his old life back, Peter enlists the help of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to make everyone forget about the revelation that he’s Spider-Man. Unfortunately, this fractures the multiverse with disastrous consequences, and it opens the door for variant Spidey villains to face Peter. This includes Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin.

The official synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home reads: “For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”

“At the end of the previous movie, we had created a situation where his identity had been exposed to the whole world. So we knew that with whatever happens in this movie, we were going to have to address that,” co-write Erik Sommers told Discussing Film of the creative direction of the new film. “And we knew everything that Peter did in this movie – including graduating from high school, moving on to college, etc. – was going to be affected by the fact that he was no longer anonymous.”

Co-writer Chris McKenna added, “We knew that we were saddled with the idea of his identity being revealed…We did know that there were going to be all these repercussions [from Far from Home]. Would it be Peter getting arrested? Would it be Peter on the run? Would he be a fugitive? Would he be going to school or not for his senior year? Would it be under the whole spotlight of everyone as he was trying to make his way through senior year at Midtown? Kind of like how it ended up being in [No Way Home].”

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in movie theaters everywhere.
