Perhaps Disney Channel’s most popular cartoon to date, Phineas and Ferb, has been revived for two more seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Co-creator Dan Povenmire will return as showrunner and as the voice of Dr. Doofenschmirtz, the iconic “evil” scientist whose inventions, at worst, mildly inconvenience the residents of the tri-state area. The president of Disney Branded Television, Ayo Davis, praised Povenmire and confirmed the news in this statement:
Phineas and Ferb originally ran from 2007 to 2015. It wasn’t canceled - the creators felt like they had exhausted their ideas and didn’t want the series to go on forever, and instead chose to go out strong. Povenmire says he’s ready to make more episodes for a new generation over seven years after the release of what was going to be the final season:
“Dan is renowned for his ability to create universally beloved stories and characters with both heart and humor. We couldn’t be happier to continue our collaboration with him and bring back the iconic Phineas and Ferb in a big way.”

There has been no news as to whether the other co-creator, Jeff Marsh, will be involved in the revival.
“It has been the greatest pleasure of my career to see how an entire generation of kids and parents have embraced the characters and the humor of Phineas and Ferb. I’m eagerly looking forward to diving back into the show for them and for a whole new generation.”
Will the New Phineas and Ferb Age with Viewers?
Disney
Audiences who loved Phineas and Ferb during its original run have grown up by now, but that doesn’t mean they won’t enjoy the upcoming episodes. While the cartoon is primarily aimed at kids, there’s plenty for adults to enjoy, and 2020’s Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe received particular praise for being enjoyable for grown-ups as well.
Meredith Roberts, the executive VP for animation at Disney Branded TV, also lauded Povenmire’s work while pointing out its entertainment value for multiple generations:
All previous Phineas and Ferb episodes can be streamed on Disney+. A release date for the new season has not yet been announced. The series was created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh, with the voices of Vincent Martella, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ashley Tisdale, and Alyson Stoner.
“Dan is a true mastermind, and his brilliant brand of storytelling has always been infused with a kind-spirited and optimistic sense of humor which continues to strike a perfect chord with audiences the world over. On behalf of everyone at Disney Television Animation, we’re so pleased to continue our association with Dan and his inspiring creative team ― visionary producers, writers, animators, song composers and directors who have entertained and connected with generations of viewers.”
