Pinocchio is a remake of a much-loved Disney animated classic from 1940 and will follow a similar path to its animated predecessor, dropping audiences into an Italian village, where the wooden puppet Pinocchio is brought to life by the Blue Fairy and seeks the life of adventure while striving to be a real boy.

While you may have expected Pinocchio to hit theaters considering the major success of prior Disney live-action remakes as Aladdin and The Lion King, Pinocchio will instead skip a traditional theatrical release, and will instead premiere on Disney+ later this month.

Disney has seen huge success with its strategy of recreating animated classics into live-action, with Pinocchio just one such remake on the horizon. Disney is currently working on bringing the likes of Peter Pan & Wendy, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, Robin Hood and countless others into the real world.

Pinocchio is scheduled to be released on Disney+ on September 8, 2022.
