The latest footage from the upcoming action thriller, Plane, finds Den of Thieves star Gerard Butler fist-fighting to survive. Released courtesy of Collider, this newest clip teases just a little of what’s to come as Butler teams up with Luke Cage star Mike Colter in order to defeat a band of heavily armed anti-government militias and rescue a plane-full of hostages. You can check out the new clip from Plane below.
Directed by Assault on Precinct 13’s Jean-François Richet and written by Charles Cumming and J. P. Davis, Plane follows Gerard Butler as pilot Brodie Torrance, who saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island — only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare, an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
This white-knuckle action movie looks like the perfect vehicle for Butler, with Marvel star Mike Colter backing him up as the mysterious convict Louis Gaspare. The rest of the cast behind Plane includes Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World Dominion), Yoson An (Mulan), Remi Adeleke (Transformers: The Last Knight), Haleigh Hekking (Action Royale), Lilly Krug (Every Breath You Take), Joey Slotnick (The Blacklist), Oliver Trevena (While We Sleep), and newcomer Kelly Gale.
Action movie fans are evidently loving what they have seen from Plane so far, with the movie bringing its release date forward thanks to the positive response to the various trailers and promos. Thus, while Plane had been previously set for release on January 27, 2023, the action thriller will instead land in theaters a little ahead of schedule on January 13, 2023.

Gerard Butler Has Offered an Update on the Fallen Sequel, Night Has Fallen
While Plane finds Butler playing an everyman character who must reach deep down to find the courage to join the action fray (a direction that the actor is hoping to continue), the action hero star is planning to bring back the unstoppable Fallen lead Secret Service Agent Mike Banning for another sequel, Night Has Fallen. Though it might be a while.
“We have a script for that, but I haven’t been working on it at the moment,” Butler revealed. “We have a really fun idea, it just needs to be to be developed. But it’s been fun recently, making action. I will say — I want to play more the Tom Hanks of action movies. Let me take a break from the Mike Banning, where it’s literally seven or eight full-on fight sequences in every movie, fistfights. And actually claiming the characters that are real, who have to pull something extraordinary out of themselves that an audience can really identify with because that’s what we need right now.”
Butler is also due to reprise several of his best known roles, including that of Detective Nick “Big Nick” O’Brien for Den of Thieves 2 and John Garrity in Greenland sequel Greenland: Migration. Butler will also reunite with Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh for another action flick, Kandahar.
