After blistering fight scenes and endless betrayals, Eternals has caused a wide controversy amongst MCU fans. Ending with a jaw-dropping final scene leaving fans raving with questions, the whispers around a second installment have finally been hushed, but all due to an Eternals 2 leak from Patton Oswalt. In an interview where he stated that Eternals 2 is happening, fans have spiraled into a whirlwind posting their thoughts on the film to come.

After months of hanging on to memories and reliving their favorite scenes, fans have created polls, groups, and sites based on what Marvel could have in store for the second installment. But as excited as they are, fans have gone to extreme lengths to make their “what ifs” credible.

Being one of the biggest superhero franchises in history and racking up 2 million views on its debut on Disney+, it’s no surprise that when the MCU lets its fans know of an upcoming theory, it drives them wild with ideas. From other MCU films and comics based around the same timeline to the development of technology within the film, the theories around Eternals 2 have escalated far and wide. Making the list as one of the MCU films coming out end of the year, we can’t help to speculate how much they make sense.

The Resurrection of Thanos

One theory that has been making waves online is the return of Josh Brolin’s Thanos. With Starfox, played by Harry Styles, revealing himself as Thanos’s brother at the end of the film, many have wondered if this could be the possible return of Thanos we’ve all been waiting for. Being set around making their way back to human life, Thano’s could be brought back by one of the Eternals. As fans have looked for different angles around Thanos’s return and have speculated that Starfox could be joining as an ally of the Eternals, the only plausible way in which Thanos could be resurrected is by coming back in synthetic form.

Another theory is based on the comics’ portrayal of Thanos being an Eternal. Now, as the word eternal would suggest that one is forever existing, whether Thanos is synthetic or not, he will be able to still return. But, should Thanos be reborn as a synthetic, he is still set to wreak havoc on the world whether he has his memories intact or not.

A Starfox and Pip Adventure Series

Another theory was set in stone after Patton Oswalt’s interview on The Today Show. After saying “… hopefully, there will be more adventures for Starfox and Pip,” fans have gotten their very own confirmation into the possibility of having a Starfox and Pip movie or series. As the final scene showed the dynamic relationship between the two new allies of the Eternals, fans said to have wondered what Starfox and Pip hold to the MCU universe.

Makkari Takes Center Stage

Lauren Ridloff’s Makkari held a powerful and strong character presence without having to say a word. As a fan favorite in the film and her character’s use of superhuman speed, fans have theorized that her ability to run faster than the speed of sound is somehow related to her being deaf.

A theory brought about after viewing her epic fight scene, fans are more thrilled to see the romantic chemistry between Makkari and Druig, played by Barry Keoghan. Druig has caused quite a stir and became a fan favorite for being the most fascinating Eternal. But in more ways than one, both characters have been predicted to develop in a range of ways.

Avengers Make an Appearance

Some Avengers characters could make an appearance which would cause a surprising turn in the movie. Names such as Thanos, Captain Marvel, Thor, and Nick Fury have been whispered around as grand superheroes known for taking their adventures to the galaxies could appear.

With his brother Starfox making an appearance, it is really unknown what his true motive is. As it is set in comics that he is to return, the Mad Titan appearing does make for a very believable theory. At the same time, Thor is known to fight throughout the galaxy, so it would be far from a surprise if he makes an appearance. Fans have suggested that the possibility of having the God of Thunder pass by in his ship or converse with the Eternals as they are known friends of Asgard is a very plausible theory.

As Nick Fury was last seen in the after credits of Avengers: Endgame, he was in a spaceship going through the galaxy. Unaware of what exactly Fury is doing in space, fans have theorized the chance that he could cross paths with the Eternals for a short cameo, as the idea is not a far stretch from what the MCU can make possible.

Another theory focuses on Moon Knight due to the fact the Eternals were set for an appearance in the series but got cut. Fans have theorized that Moon Knight may have a connection to Eternals 2. Viewers have taken into account an Easter egg from the first movie, which may lead to a Black Knight character development played by Kit Harrington as Dane Whitman.

With all these theories, there are only so many we can believe and agree to, but in the meantime, let us wait and see which comes to pass as Eternals 2 makes its way to theaters
