Pretty Little Liars Original Sin Trailer Introduces A New A For The Next Generation

HBO Max has unveiled the official trailer for Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. The new series, which reboots Pretty Little Liars with an all-new cast while keeping the story set in the same universe, picks up two decades after the events of the original show. A new “A” is at the center of a another compelling mystery, and to get a sneak peek at Original Sin, you can check out that new trailer below.

Inspired by the original television series and the Pretty Little Liars books by Sara Shepard, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin was developed for HBO Max by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring. Aguirre-Sacasa executive produces with Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo, and Lindsay Calhoon Bring co-executive produces. The new series stars Chandler Kinney, Maia Reficco, Bailee Madison, Zaria, Malia Pyles, Alex Aiono, Mallory Bechtel, and Eric Johnson. You can read the official logline for the show below.

The New Series Is Set in the Same Universe as Pretty Little Liars

When it was first announced that a Pretty Little Liars reboot was in development, fans were not quite sure what to think. While the series does indeed focus on all-new characters, it was important for the Original Sin team to keep the new show set in the original’s same universe. That keeps the door open for references, Easter eggs, and perhaps even some special appearances. The idea is to pay respect to the original show.

“We’re such huge fans of what I. Marlene King and her iconic cast created, we knew that we had to treat the original series as #CANON and do something different. So we’re leaning into the suspense and horror in this reboot, which hopefully will honor what the fans loved about the hit series, while weaving in new, unexpected elements,” Aguirre-Sacasa and Bring said in a joint statement.

HBO Max head of original content Sarah Aubrey added, “Roberto and Lindsay are expanding the Pretty Little Liars universe with more murder, mysteries, and scandal, and we can’t wait.”

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will premiere on HBO Max on July 28, 2022. Meanwhile, classic episodes of the original series can also be streamed at HBO Max for any fans who want to revisit the classic Pretty Little Liars before the new show arrives. Chances are, there will be some references for eagle-eyed fans to look out for.
