SPOILERS for Prey to follow…

Director Dan Trachtenberg has reignited the long-failing Predator franchise with the recent Hulu release Prey, and has now hinted that a sequel could follow. The final moments of Prey suggest that the battle between the alien trophy hunters and the Comanche Nation is far from over, with Trachtenberg now revealing to The Hollywood Reporter that he has given some thought to what could occur in a potential Prey 2.

Critics and Predator fans have heaped praise on Prey since its release, with many wondering what the franchise and director Dan Trachtenberg will do next. While there is nothing official yet regarding Prey 2, Trachtenberg has stated before that he would be interested in returning for more adventures involving the Predator. “There are a lot of exciting ideas for what could be next for the franchise,” the filmmaker said in July. “The things that most excite me are the boldest swings and I think there’s scope to do other things that haven’t been done before.”

“The nerd in me looked that far ahead, as far as he could look, before we started writing this movie, but the adult in me said, “Don’t count your chickens and just be careful. Try and make the best movie possible, straight away.” End-credit sequence aside, there is something refreshing about seeing a movie that is not really intended to be just a part one to something else. There’s something nice about seeing a complete thought. On the complete other hand, I love that what would’ve been a post-credit scene in other movies, is an animated end-title sequence in our movie. Our end titles are still storytelling.”

Many have suggested where the Predator could end up next, with the idea of a Samurai versus Predator movie taking the top spot, but there is no doubt that audiences would love to see Amber Midthunder’s warrior return for more.

Prey is Now the Biggest Release on Hulu

     Hulu

Since landing on Hulu last week, Prey has seen huge success from both critics and audiences alike. The sheer quality and popularity of Prey has quickly been reflected in the viewership figures, with Prey now the most-watched premiere across all films and television series on Hulu in the United States.

Prey is an all-new action-thriller from 20th Century Studios and the next outing in the long-running Predator franchise. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, Prey is set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, and tells the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Written by Patrick Aison, Prey stars Amber Midthunder as Naru, the young Comanche warrior who must fight to protect her tribe against a Predator. Starring alongside Midthunder are Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope, and Dane DiLiegro as the Predator. Prey is now available to stream on Hulu.
