Our first official look at Priscilla has been revealed. In the works at A24, the film is a Priscilla Presley biopic that takes inspiration from her 1985 memoir Elvis and Me, detailing the relationship with the King of Rock ’n’ Roll and the only woman he ever married. Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation) wrote the script and is directing the film, and as has been reported, Cailee Spaeny (Mare of Easttown, Bad Times at the El Royale) stars as Priscilla. Jacob Elordi (Euphoria, Saltburn), meanwhile, co-stars as Elvis.
A new image has now been shared on Instagram by Coppola revealing the film’s lead stars in character. Holding back on showcasing a crystal clear look at the two, the image is dark, revealing the actors’ silhouettes while making it impossible to see their faces. Even so, it’s clear from one peek at the photo that we’re looking at Elvis and Priscilla, one of pop culture’s most famous couples in history.

Priscilla: The Movie Follows Elvis: The Movie
HBO
It might seem very soon to be pursuing another movie involving the Presleys after the recent release of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, the hit film featuring Austin Butler as the “Jailhouse Rock” singer; Olivia DeJonge played Priscilla. But Priscilla dives deeper into the story of the relationship from Priscilla’s viewpoint, as not very much of this was explored in Elvis. As Coppola explained in a Vogue interview, there was plenty enough that was interesting in Priscilla’s own life that it even made writing the screenplay a challenge, as not everything could be included.
“I think Baz is so unique, and his take on that story was so creative. But Priscilla is such a minor character in that film, so I never felt like I was treading on the same territory,” Coppola explained. “I love that people were so into his film about Elvis, and now in a few years there’ll be another film about Priscilla. I think it’ll be interesting to have two completely different interpretations of the same events and time period.”
She added, “The hardest part of writing the script was just editing down so many incredible details from Priscilla’s memoir. I was interested in trying to imagine what growing up in that world must have looked like through her eyes.”
Priscilla does not yet have a premiere date.
