Though the cast of Bodies Bodies Bodies is as tight-knit as ever after the summer slasher’s release, actress Rachel Sennott says shared misery on set was almost crucial for their forming friendship.
Bodies Bodies Bodies stars Amandla Stenberg, Pete Davidson, Maria Bakalova, Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, and Lee Pace; Sennott plays out-of-touch, self-obsessed podcaster Alice in the Gen-Z murder mystery.
Sennott told W Magazine that the effects used in some of the film’s more intense scenes lead to “trauma bonding” with her co-stars, namely the rain machines and abundance of fake blood.
“There was some trauma bonding going on during the filming of the movie,” the actress, 27, joked. “Something about the water…the rain machines and the blood. I’ll never be able to see rain in another movie without imagining how cold the actresses are—I mean, they’re shivering.”

Taking place during a “hurricane party” and promising some bloody thrills for its disaffected 20-something guests, Bodies Bodies Bodies certainly had no shortage of intense scenes to film—but ultimately, that ended up being a positive.
“There were lots of intense scenes in the movie, so we bonded very quickly while shooting. And, honestly, we needed it. We had to be like, I love you because we’re going into the storm together,” she added.
Sennott Reflects on Bodies Bodies Bodies Process: ‘It’s Been Very Special’
A24
Bodies Bodies Bodies has been a long time coming. First acquired by A24 in 2018, the project was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and passed between directors before it began filming in 2021. Now that the film has been released, Sennott says that it was a special experience to make the dark comedy with her fellow cast members.
“Working on a film…it’s this weird thing where you do something in a bubble, and then a year goes by, and then everything starts to happen when the project is released,” the Shiva Baby actress reflected.
But the standout actress says that it was all worth it when it came to seeing the final product, and she enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate the cast, crew, and their collective work.
“It’s been very special going through this process with the cast though, because I really love them. It’s been nice to celebrate each other,” she added.
Directed by Halina Reijn, Bodies Bodies Bodies is now available to purchase on Prime Video.
