Reba McEntire discussed her desire for a Reba reboot during a recent appearance on the Bobby Bones Show. The Emmy-nominated sitcom ran on the WB, and then CW, for six seasons from 2001-2007. Reba centered around the dynamics of a blended family that included Reba, her ex-husband Brock (Christopher Rich), his new wife Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and the divorced couple’s children Cheyenne (Joanna García Swisher), Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) and Jake (Mitch Holleman). The series also starred Steve Howey as Van Montgomery, Cheyenne’s partner.

On Friday, McEntire told host Bobby Bones:

Another cast member recently echoed that sentiment. During an interview with The Art of Kindness Podcast, Garcia Swisher spoke highly of her television mother, calling her gracious, kind and strong. When asked if she would consider appearing on a Reba reboot, the actress excitedly said:

“We’ve really been trying hard to do a reboot of the Reba show. I really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six and a half years. It was fun, the cast the crew everybody we got to work with and play with, they were wonderful people. We wanted to get back together like a reunion and have fun, so hopefully that will happen one day.”

Reba had a successful run and set a new all-time viewership record for any program on the WB’s Friday night for women in the 18-49 age range. The series has aired on syndication through Lifetime, Ion Television, Peachtree TV, The CW Plus, and most recently the Hallmark Channel.

“Are you kidding me? We’d love to!”

McEntire and Peterman’s Continued Collaborations

Peterman and McEntire have continued their on-screen partnership after appearing as frenemies on Reba. The two collaborated on CMT’s Working Class, which starred Peterman and Ed Asner. The series premiered in January 2011 as the first scripted series for CMT but was canceled after just one season due to poor reception and ratings.

In 2012, Peterman joined ABC Family/Freeform’s Baby Daddy, playing Bonnie Walker, the mother of a young man whose one-night stand leads to fatherhood. McEntire appeared in one episode of the series, as Bonnie’s old friend. Baby Daddy ran for six seasons and concluded in 2017.

The two women also appear on The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon. McEntire has a recurring role, while Peterman has appeared on one episode, reprising her role from The Big Bang Theory.

The two will next collaborate on The Hammer, a Lifetime movie where they will portray sisters. The Hammer is inspired by the true story of Judge Kim Wheeler, who is played by McEntire. The story follows her appointment as a Judge following the suspicious death of her predecessor. Peterman will play Kris, Kim’s sister who runs a local brothel and is a suspect in the death of the former judge.
