Netflix invested a lot of money into getting Red Notice made, and it’s paying off in a big way. When the action movie - which stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds - made its Netflix premiere this month, it was met with instant success. At the time, it was quickly revealed that so many people had tuned in to see the new movie that Red Notice had set the record as the most-watched premiere in Netflix history.
Nearly two weeks have passed and Red Notice is still breaking records. Toasting the success with a glass of Teremana tequila, Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to reveal that the movie is now the biggest Netflix movie ever, making it a “history making Red Notice Teremana Thanksgiving weekend around the world.” Despite some critical reviews that were none too kind, Johnson touts the high audience score.

“In just 11 days you’ve officially made Red Notice the BIGGEST Netflix FILM EVER,” Johnson said just ahead of setting the new record. “Shattering all records across the board!!! In another post, The Rock included a clip featuring himself alongside Reynolds to tout the movie’s success, with Red Notice officially surpassing Bird Box as the streamer’s most-watched movie. In the caption, Johnson says, “Here’s my slick talkin’ frenemy [Ryan Reynolds] and I, giving you a taste of why Red Notice has officially become THE BIGGEST MOVIE IN THE HISTORY OF NETFLIX!!! In under two weeks, we’ve shattered all records and we have many weeks to go. THANK YOU GUYS and enjoy Red Notice this weekend around the world.”
All of this Red Notice success must have put Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in an extra special mood. He recently hosted a special screening at a theater where he was hoping Porsche would give away the vehicle he drove in the movie. When that didn’t work out, Johnson then decided to give away his personal custom truck to a veteran in attendance. Of course, The Rock has a long history of being especially kind to others, so that behavior isn’t entirely new.
The Rock has also just announced that he’ll be honored with the People’s Champ Award at this year’s People’s Choice Awards. Set to go down in December, the ceremony will also include several other nominations for Johnson because of his movie Jungle Cruise and biographical TV series Young Rock. Back in his WWE days, The Rock would refer to himself as the People’s Champ, so it’s quite fitting in many ways for him to get this honor.
Red Notice is written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. The filmmaker has said that if a sequel were to happen, which seems likely given all of this success, that he hopes to shoot a third installment back-to-back with part two as well.
