Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon is back with another rom-com flick alongside Ashton Kutcher. The pair teams up for the forthcoming Netflix film Your Place or Mine, set to be released on Feb. 10. The film is a modern-day love story that celebrates romance between two middle-aged adults.
Often dubbed America’s Sweetheart, Reese rose to prominence by starring in numerous rom-com films. As someone whose career has benefited enormously from rom-com films, the genre has always had a place in Reese’s heart. So Reese Witherspoon couldn’t believe it when it was pointed out that she had spent six years working in the drama genre.
While promoting Your Place or Mine, Reese told Vanity Fair, “Has it really been that long? I didn’t stop on purpose. I don’t think I’ll ever stop making romantic comedies. They are very important to me. It’s my favorite genre because it makes people feel good. This one is even more special because we have different voices and different perspectives telling the story. Our movie is about a single mom in her 40s getting second chances and finding love. You often don’t see this in a romantic comedy.”

And now she’s back with another rom-com flick, and she’s pretty proud of the film and said, “Women in their 40s deserve stories too. It’s important to know that life doesn’t stop after 40. My character has ambition and wants to really feel alive. You don’t have to be in your 20s to feel this, and I think a lot of women feel that way when they’re my age. We want to see something that is very grounded in reality. "
She continued, “Even with Ashton’s character, we show the realities of people in their 40s, and this is something that’s never even talked about, and I hope it changes people’s perspective. Our story still has romance and escape, but we are trying to reflect what we see in our everyday lives and see it in movies.”
