Season 2 of The Morning Show introduced a potential love story for Witherspoon’s character, a journalist named Laura Peterson (played by Julianna Margulies). During the third episode of last season, the pair share an unexpected kiss in the back of a car, and from there, the two begin a secret affair.

Before Margulies’ character came into the picture, Bradley’s sexuality had never been explored in the series. The first season even teased a potential romance between Witherspoon’s character and her boss, Cory Ellison (played by Billy Crudup).

Previously, while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Margulies reflected on the moment when her character and Bradley shared their first kiss. She said, “Just before the kiss, when Laura says to Bradley, ‘You were really good out there today, I don’t think the network is using you in the right way,’ she says it with such honesty and care about a fellow human being, and with no agenda, that I think it sort of rocks Bradley’s world.” The Good Wife actor continued, This is the first time you’ve actually seen Bradley being talked to respectfully and, also, heralded by her icon," Margulies stated. “Laura to Bradley is what Diane Sawyer is to all of us.”

People also noted that Jennifer Aniston’s character, Alex Levy, has experienced her fair share of romantic scandals on the show. Alex is recently divorced from her ex-husband and finds herself in hot water after she’s publicly questioned about a prior sexual relationship with the discredited anchor Mitch Kessler (played by Steve Carell).

Apple TV+ renewed The Morning Show for a third season in Jan. 2022. Other returning cast members include Mark Duplass and Karen Pittman. The upcoming season will also introduce new characters played by Natalie Morales, Nicole Beharie, Tig Notaro, and Stephen Fry.
