Relationships will be brought to a breaking point in the upcoming thriller, The Friendship Game. The recently released trailer shows Peyton List as the lead character, alongside Cotton Allen (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), when they stumble upon a mysterious game sold by a spooky woman. The titular titled game presents dangerous consequences, as the woman states, “if your friendships don’t survive it, neither do you.”

The Friendship Game comes from director Scooter Corkle, with previous work including Hollow in the Land and several short films such as Chloe and Attie and Pour Retourner. Damien Ober pens the script, with experience in television with The OA for Netflix, and Dominion. The Friendship Game is sure to give audiences the creeps, as the game has dire consequences for Cotton Allen, clearly shown in the trailer. But, from there, the stakes will only rise as each and every friendship is tested throughout the film. Here is the first official trailer, found below.

The Friendship Game stars List alongside Brendan Meyer (Delivery, The OA), Dylan Schombing (Watchmen, Sharp Objects), Kelcey Mawema (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), and Kaitlyn Santa Juana (The Flash). The official synopsis for the film reads: “A group of teenagers in a small town discover a strange object that tests the strength of their friendship.” The Friendship Game comes from RLJE Films, arriving in theaters and On Demand on Nov. 11.

The Friendship Game Crew is Excited for Audiences to Witness the Terrifying Thriller

Variety was the first to report the news regarding RLJE’s acquisition of The Friendship Game, and producer Daniel Bekerman couldn’t be more excited for audiences to finally see the film. “We’re very energized to be partnered with RLJE Films on the release of The Friendship Game — this is the kind of film they always rock with,” Bekerman explained. “Scooter [Corkle] is a filmmaker to watch and combined with Damien’s mind-bending and terrifying script, they took this movie past our wildest expectations. Peyton delivers on a raw and gritty performance in a role unlike anything we have seen from her before. Can’t wait to get the film in front of audiences!”

The Friendship Game is certainly something new for List, whose most notable work includes the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise, Cobra Kai, and the Disney series Bunk’d. The 24-year-old actress will deliver a brand new performance for the upcoming thriller, which should excite audiences.

Mark Ward, chief acquisition officer at RLJE Films, reiterated the enthusiasm saying, “The Friendship Game features an incredibly talented young cast lead by rising star Peyton List. We cannot wait for audiences to join this fun, exciting, entertaining thrill ride of a movie.” Luckily, audiences don’t have to wait much longer, with The Friendship Game making its debut early next month on Nov. 11.
