The Reno Sheriff’s Department is getting back together. We learned in December that Quibi, the upcoming streaming service that specializes in short-form content, is bringing back Reno 911! for a revival series. At the time, it was confirmed that several cast members would be returning, but it wasn’t clear who that would be. Now, we have word that the entire main cast from the Comedy Central days will be back in uniform keeping the streets of Reno safe for season 7.
Quibi and Comedy Central have announced the full cast for the revamped version of the show. The cast includes Robert Ben Garant (Deputy Travis Junior), Thomas Lennon (Lt. Jim Dangle), Kerri Kenney-Silver (Deputy Trudy Wiegel), Niecy Nash (Deputy Raineesha Williams), Wendi McLendon-Covey (Deputy Clementine Johnson), Cedric Yarbrough (Deputy S. Jones) and Carlos Alazraqui (Deputy James Garcia), Ian Roberts (Sergeant Jack Declan), Joe Lo Truglio (Deputy Frank Rizzo) and Mary Birdsong (Deputy Cherisha Kimball) are also on board. Now, if they can just get NIck Swardson back as Terry, it will be truly complete.

Prior to the announcement in December, there had been a great deal of talk about bringing Reno 911! back in some way, shape or form. Thomas Lennon told us in an interview that the plan was to do another movie. The gang previously starred in 2007’s Reno 911!: Miami. Things changed and they’re almost going the opposite route with short-form episodes. Several of the show’s cast members reunited for a series of ads that aired during a marathon of the show in December 2018 for New Years Eve. That proved that the humor can work quite well in short bursts.
Quibi, in a partnership with Comedy Central Productions, gave the green light to Reno 911! season 7. The comedy was created by stars Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Thomas Lennon. They will all be writing for the new season, in addition to reprising their on-screen roles. Peter Principato of Artists First is set to executive produce the series along with Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Jersey Television. Wendi McLendon-Covey will also serve as a producer in addition to staring. The series originally ran for six seasons on Comedy Central from 2003 to 2009, with 88 episodes making it to air.
