Rian Johnson seems to be the king of mysteries in 2023. After the success of his Netflix movie Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Johnson’s new series Poker Face has also kicked off with a great start. The Peacock series debuted with a perfect 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and if viewership is just as high, chances are that the show will be around for some time to come. Johnson has already said that his hope is for the series to span several seasons, making it clear this isn’t designed as a limited series engagement.

Meanwhile, Johnson is also preparing to make the third installment of the Knives Out series. Some fans may be wondering if there’s a chance her Poker Face character, Charlie Cale, may one day end up meeting Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc in a potential crossover. This question was asked of Johnson in a new interview with ScreenRant, and as the director explains, given that Lyonne’s Glass Onion cameo has technically established that her as the star of the fictional series Poker Face, it couldn’t be so simple as having Charlie and Benoit meet. However, the two stories could still acknowledge each other in other ways.

Will Poker Face Get Renewed?

     Peacock

It’s too early to know what viewership is like on Poker Face with the series just making its debut on Peacock. However, given the involvement of Johnson and Lyonne, coupled with the strong reviews, there should be a lot of interest from fans in the show. We’ll have to wait and see if there’s enough here to get the series a renewal for season 2 at Peacock, and NBCUniversal could end up waiting until every episode has been released before making that decision.

Poker Face is now streaming on Peacock with its first four episodes now available to watch. There are six more episodes that make up the freshman season, and they will be released weekly on every Thursday until the finale. Meanwhile, you can catch Benoit Blanc’s latest adventure by streaming Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery over at Netflix.
