Rick and Morty is arguably one of the most unique television shows in the contemporary media landscape. The show has everything that you could ask for in a series: beautiful animations, out-of-this-world storylines, humor that ranges from irreverent raunch to clever wordplay, and compelling characters, all of which work together to explore thought-provoking themes.
These elements have all been present in the first five episodes of season six. The newest installment, at least so far, has absolutely lived up to the high standard of entertainment that fans have come to expect of the series.
The new season has featured all sorts of wild adventures for the Smith family. They’ve battled alien terrorists at an intergalactic arcade, Beth and her clone got a little too close for comfort, the family was forced to leave their original dimension, and the Smith’s sleepwalking alter egos proved to be formidable opponents. With several more episodes left to come, the show’s audience has a good reason to be excited at the prospect of more classic sci-fi adventures.

An Homage to the Dinosaur Days of Yore in Juricksic Mort
We have seen all manner of interesting creatures throughout the run of Rick and Morty, but we have yet to see an episode that focuses on dinosaurs. This is somewhat surprising, given the series’ sci-fi slant, but when you consider the fact that Rick has consistently been opposed to time travel, the noticeable lack of prehistoric reptiles makes a bit more sense. In the upcoming sixth episode of season six, “Juricksic Mort,” it’s possible that this will finally change.

Rick and Morty is no stranger to film references. For example, in the second episode of season six, “Rick: A Mort Well Lived,” Summer channels her inner John McClane to take on a slew of Die Hard-obsessed alien terrorists. The episode title “Juricksic Mort” is obviously an homage to Jurassic Park, a film that Rick and Morty has previously referred to in the third episode of its debut season, “Anatomy Park.”
Carnage, Calamity, and Chuckles in Full Meta Jackrick
Rick is the smartest man in the universe, but he is also one of the most hated. His intergalactic experiments and exploits have made him some powerful enemies, which necessitates the aging scientist engage in many epic battles against his myriad foes.
“Full Meta Jackrick” is a reference to Stanley Kubrick’s classic Vietnam War flick Full Metal Jacket, so it stands to reason that the episode will feature a conflict of some kind. The presence of the term meta in the title may suggest that the scuffle takes place on a non-physical battlefield. It could take place in a simulation or, alternatively, inside Rick’s mind, a concept previously explored in the episode “Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort.”
A Weird, Wonderful Family Christmas in Ricktional Mortpoon’s Rickmas Mortcation
Rick and Morty never shy away from putting out a holiday episode. The Smiths seem to sit down for Thanksgiving dinner at a rate that well exceeds once a year, and Christmas bells are constantly ringing in the family’s quiet suburban town.

One of the upcoming season six episodes is set to be titled “Ricktional Mortpoon’s Rickmas Mortcation,” an obvious reference to National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Rick isn’t really the Christmas type, so it will be interesting to see what wild adventures he gets into in this holiday extravaganza.
A Rick in King Mortur’s Mort Could See Rick and Morty in a Whole New Time Period
As previously mentioned, Rick doesn’t like time travel, but he isn’t above traveling to dimensions or planets that feature less technologically advanced civilizations. An upcoming episode bearing the title “A Rick in King Mortur’s Mort” will likely feature some sort of medieval adventure.
Previously, in the season four episode “Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim’s Morty,” the Smiths were forced to enter a magical dimension after Rick had a forbidden relationship with the dragon he had reluctantly purchased for Morty. Maybe this episode could reintroduce audiences to the dragon, or it could be unrelated, and see Rick and Morty going on a quest for a Holy Grail-like artifact.
Though there are only a handful of episodes left in Rick and Morty season six, fans can rest easy that they will not be subject to the same wait times that they’ve come to expect between installments of the series, as the showrunners have suggested new seasons will begin to be released at a rate of one per year. If the second half of season six continues to be as consistently entertaining as the first, fans will be more excited to see the show return than ever.
More hilarious homages are yet to come, and audiences will be keeping a close eye on the Smith family’s interdimensional and intergalactic exploits.
