Rita Wilson is going to guest star in the Yellowstone spin-off 1883. She will appear in a future episode of the Paramount+ TV show as a character named Carolyn. The role is described as “a storekeeper at Doan’s Crossing who helps Margaret (Faith Hill) decompress with some whiskey punch.”

With the news, Wilson will be the second member of the family to feature in a minor role for the series. Her husband of over 30 years, Tom Hanks, guest-starred in the second episode of 1883. He played a Civil War general named George Meade. Unlike most of the characters on the show, Meade was a person who existed in real life. Since she is in a guest-starring role, it is unknown if her character will survive the episode.

Unlike most of her motion pictures, Wilson will be a part of a drama project when appearing in 1883.

Rita Wilson is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, and Rogers and Cowan PMK.

1883 premiered simultaneously on Paramount+ and The Paramount Network. On the latter, the show debuted right after an episode of the original series Yellowstone. The prequel/spin-off has already shown itself to be a rating success. The first episode drew about 4.9 million viewers upon release. Many tv shows today are lucky to have 1 million viewers. Having almost 5 million consumers watching a series is considered a huge success. 1883 is arguably the first original series hit for the streaming service Paramount+. It could turn out to be as big as Yellowstone, which brought in 10 million viewers for its latest season premiere. Regardless, both shows have proven to be two of the most popular small-screen projects today.

In 1883, members of the Dutton family, the same family that stars on Yellowstone, went on a journey to Montana through the Great Plains. Their final destination will undoubtedly be the family’s Yellowstone Ranch. Main cast members include Faith Hill, her real-life husband and country superstar Tim McGraw, as well as Sam Elliott, Billy Bob Thornton, Isabel May, and LeMonica Garrett. Elliott has received universal acclaim for his performance as a Pinkerton Agency member put in charge of the expedition. McGraw and Hill play the parents of the Dutton family. As previously mentioned, the duo, along with the pair of Wilson and Hanks, are a couple offscreen. Hill and McGraw’s characters are the great grandparents of John Dutton, one of the main protagonists on Yellowstone.

Taylor Sheridan, who co-created Yellowstone, is the creator and an executive producer for 1883. Additional executive producers include John Linson, Art Linson, David Glasser, Rob Burkle, and Bob Yari. Entertainment companies MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios produce the series.
