Rob Zombie has announced that Cassandra Peterson, aka Elvira, has joined the cast of The Munsters. Last year, when the news was first broken that Zombie was developing a new take on The Munsters, a handful of names had also leaked from the project’s unannounced cast. All of these names have since been confirmed one by one by Zombie in recent months, and it had all come down to Peterson as the last of the rumored names yet to be confirmed. On Friday, Zombie made it official by posting an image of Peterson from the film and revealing who she plays.

The main cast includes Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, and Dan Roebuck as Grandpa, all three of which were rumored for the film. Jorge Garcia of Lost had also been rumored, and Zombie previously revealed that he’ll be playing the character Floop. Richard Brake, who frequently collaborates with Zombie, had also been named for the cast, and it was revealed that he plays the mad scientist Dr. Wolfgang. Other guest stars featured in the film include Sylvester McCoy, who plays Dr. Wolfgang’s assistant Igor, and former Bond girl Catherine Schell who came out of retirement to play a gypsy queen.
Will The Munsters Reboot Feature Eddie and Marilyn Munster?
Rob Zombie
As of now, all of the rumored names for The Munsters have been officially revealed by Rob Zombie. That just leaves us with other cast members whose involvement will come as a surprise. Oddly, Zombie has not revealed any photos of Eddie and Marilyn Munster, despite their prominence in the original show that the reboot is based on. It seems more likely than not that the two will appear in some capacity, and maybe with all of the rumored names now confirmed, Zombie will soon be revealing the new Eddie and Marilyn.
We don’t know any plot details of the reboot, but it’s clearly an homage to the original series that will include many references. Zombie has had not just the house at 1313 Mockingbird Lane reconstructed from scratch, he had all of Mockingbird Lane built as well. Going for total authenticity, Zombie has also confirmed on Instagram that the movie will have a PG rating, keeping it family-friendly in tone just like the classic comedy series. Some people familiar with Zombie’s horror work had been asking if this would be an R-rated reimagining of The Munsters with heavy violence and foul language, but that is not the case.
The Munsters will be given a day-and-date release by premiering in both theaters and on Peacock on a date to be determined in 2022.
