Among the many exciting developments coming to Stranger Things season 4, fans of A Nightmare on Elm Street icon Robert Englund have been eagerly awaiting his arrival in the series since his name was added to the upcoming season’s cast list last year. However, the actor himself has now commented on his appearance in the show as the head of the Creel household, and he may have revealed that his character only appears in one episode. While some fans may have expected Englund to have a larger role in the series, it is likely that his role of Victor Creel will not be as large as some would have liked.

Stranger Things will return with the first part of its penultimate season on May 27, and although there has not yet been a full trailer for the new episodes, we do know that this season will be longer and more expansive than anything that has preceded it. With the main returning cast of characters being split across the world, there is a lot of stories to tell and it is not yet known how the story of Victor Creel will play a part of the overarching narrative. In an interview with Gibson TV, Englund has finally spoken a little about how filming has been tricky for the cast, but his work is all done. He said:

“Well I’m waiting for season 4 of Stranger Things. But because of covid, and the pandemic, and the fact that all the kids and David Harbour and everyone on that show is a star now, they’re a little behind. But I’ve shot my episode, so I’m looking forward to that because I’m a fan of the show.”

Robert Englund Will Be a Key Part of Season 4’s Storyline Even Without Much Screen Time

Although Robert Englund has strongly suggested that his appearance in Stranger Things will be limited to a single episode, it is likely that his character will hold some important pieces of the new season’s plot. When he was cast in the role, Victor Creel was described as “a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.” In addition to Englund appearing in the role, Kevin L. Johnson was also cast as a younger version of the character.

Although there has been no confirmation of how Creel’s story fits into the narrative of Stranger Things, the most prominent fan theory is that the Creel House will be one of the locations that contains a rift to the Upside Down, and that could in turn lead to revelations about the Creel murders that have links to the Mind-flayer and more. There has also been a suggestion that the series will touch on time travel, which could see some characters finding themselves back in the Creel house in the 1950s, where they will likely discover more about where everything started.

Overall, the introduction of Victor Creel and the Creel House could be something that is resolved within the season, or it could be one of the many story threads that will spill over into the final season, which we now know is coming. No matter how much screen time Robert Englund ends up having in the series, for a show that thrives on the nostalgia of the 80s, his mere presence is enough to further enhance the series’ connectivity to its fans.
